- I have been using POV-Ray 2.2 for a while now, and I recently
- purchesed the below-mentioned accelerator (50MHz 030/882). I rendered
- the "drums2" pov scene file at 640x480 with no anti-aliasing. In the
- scene file it states that a 33MHz 486 should render it in 3 hours at
- this resolution with no A-A. It took me about 29 hours! I am running
- my own compiled version of the POV-Ray source (because the supplied
- 881 version gave me occasional objects with scrambled surfaces)
- compiled with GNU CC 2.6.3 (and ixemul.library 41.4) using -O2 -m68030
- -m68881. I used the unix.c, unix config.h, and unix makefile.
- What's going on? I'm sure that a 33MHz 486 is not anywhere
- near 10 times as fast as a 50MHz 68030. I also tried the 881 povray
- supplied with the official Amiga package on a simple scene and found
- that it was slightly slower than my compiled version (with a scrambled
- object, however), so it shouldn't be my compiled executable causing
- the slowness.
